When you first check on board, you will provide the cruise line with a major credit card, debit card, or cash/travelers checks.

Aside from the casino - cash transactions are virtually unheard of while on board your cruise ship.  Every time you order a drink, buy something in the ships store and/or mall area, it is charged to your cabin by using your room key which doubles as your on board "charge card".

All charges made during the cruise are then taken care of at the end of your cruise (either by charging the credit card you provided - or by cash).
